ICEBEAR Data Policy

Access

Access and use of data produced by the ICEBEAR radar is provided in accordance with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Geospace Observatory (GO) Canada Data Policy (GO Canada Webpage, GO Canada Data Policy pdf). Users are required to acknowledge the use of ICEBEAR data in any publications, presentations, or other formats. Users are also strongly encouraged to provide copies of any publications using ICEBEAR observations, as well as make available to the community tools and/or value-added data products based on the CSA GO Canada ICEBEAR data.

All ICEBEAR data is open and freely available in the easy to read HDF5 file format; however, due to the extremely large data volume, the raw and Level 0 data (~1 Tb per day) is only available upon request.

ICEBEAR data and plots are available via a web interface: Data Access

Available ICEBEAR Data consists of:

Level 0 data:Raw antenna voltages
Level 1 data:Cross-correlations between receiver antennas

Plotted ICEBEAR data consists of:

Summary: Doppler velocity and SNR measured over a day period across all ranges
Range-Doppler SNR: 1 and 5 second resolution images and movies
Field-of-View SNR: 1 and 5 second resolution images and movies
Field-of-View Doppler: 1 and 5 second resolution images and movies

Contact

Users can contact glenn.hussey@usask.ca to discuss generation of other data products from ICEBEAR. It is encouraged that users inform the ICEBEAR PI of usage of the ICEBEAR data sets for record keeping and justification for continued operation of the radar.
